I have a Little problem: I ordered a Bcd996T on Ebay but when I received my package I realized it was a Ubcd996T (Australian version). Can I upgrade the firmware with the Bcd996T update firmware to make it a Bcd996T ???

I've check on Uniden Autralia web site and the update for the Ubcd996t is V.1.01.05. And I don't know if the rebanding is included.

BCD996T and UBC996T are different models produce for different markets.

Australia/New Zealand have a different bandplan than the US version.

I would NOT recommend mixing the firmwares but if you do and are successful, please share your results. If you fail, it might brick your unit for good.

How will the US version of the firmware handle the extra frequency range?

AFAIK, UBC models will not take firmware for Uniden America products. The unit itself is also not type accepted for use in the US, so there is nothing that Uniden America can legally do for you.
