Very interesting story on the WTVR website about a guy driving around the area actually using red lights and speeding. Best-looking vehicle I've ever seen...nothing at all like HamSexy. Apparently, he founded his own non-profit in order to register it with DMV as an emergency vehicle.

On the TV news they didn't mention any radio equipment, but they did say it was equipped with a siren. Unknown if he had used it. I think they finally nabbed him going 80 on Chippenham with the lights running.

I googled, but couldn't find better photos than the WTVR ones. Would be curious to know if some better ones are around. I haven't noticed any regular whackers or 'amber light clubs' around here, but knew a few from the security business years ago. If they're out there, it would interesting to know if they're using radio in their 'work.'

Interesting. He lives about a mile and a half away from me, and I've never seen him before. Definitely an interesting article...

I don't know whats worse, the fact that he did what he did- or the fact that the DMV allowed the registration to proceed. What if he wasn't just a whacker? What if he was part of a a larger group with more ill intent?

WTVR had this story on last night. From what I understand, according to the DMV, as long as you have the vehicle title you can apply for emergency license plates without showing any type of ID. The fact that he's a certified EMT probably didn't help either. How he got away with it that long, I'm not sure. "Virginia Patrol" sounds a bit suspicious to me, but I guess you can't do a thing until you've got the evidence.
