uc berkeley or feds?

been hearing digital coms on the following freqs, 408.3875(most active),407.8625, 408.1875, and 410.35. these are all uhf federal freqs , i been monitoring and it sounds like maintenance or security at uc berkeley, heard them say call berkeley pd for illegally parked vehicle on Shattuck! also 172.9 been hearing digital coms about once an hour, sounds like security checkins, feds? anybody know what's the deal?

I believe the UHF freqs you listed could belong to the Dept. of Energy.
Do you have a DOE Lab in your area?

172.9 in digital mode tends to be used by the Transportation Security Admin. (TSA).
Do you have an airport in your area?

DOE, or LL it sure is a strong signal if i can pick it up here in san jose with just rubber duck !

He's got it. That's the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory TRS Site 6, Lawrence Berkeley Lab. All the traffic I've heard so far is security and maintenance. It is a strong system and the antenna is up on a hill I think. Do a forum search on LLNL to find out how to set up the system (it's not in the database). 172.9 very well could be TSA at San Jose Int'l but I'm not positive.
