if anyone has info on these let me know or just submit them, also if you have unitrunker or the 436/536, 325P2, or SDS series, These will tell you the site numbers, unitrunker will also tell you who the peer/neighbor sites are, these also can me submitted to the database

It was sorta in jest, about the Field Trip,,,,, but,,,,,, maybe a couple trips would be nice. 'Sides, I'm getting tired of self-imposed quarantine. I don't use licenses, but rough locations/areas would help in planning the trip(s). It won't be until mid January at the earliest. Unless the weather stays nice, then maybe earlier.

Ditto....

This will be first time in a long while that I didn't make it down to Moab. Pretty sad about it. My Brother In Law who hates camping, was totally excited for me to take him down that way to see the Utah Monolith. Not happening anymore.

But I'm trying to plan something to Southern Utah in the next bit. I'll definitely bring my SDS 100 and provide any info I can along the way.

Normally when I go out to "conduct research on localized Electromagnetic disturbances in the Ether", I take a laptop with Unitrunker, and a PRO-652. I have a tripod that I place in the bed of the wife's Tundra, and I have a couple gain antennas. One for 800~900 Mhz and the other is a Ham Dual-Band, that I use for VHF/UHF. It is portable and works pretty nice. The hard part is analyzing the info I receive. That takes time.

Yep, when the time comes that we switch to p25, either Phase 1 or Phase 2 we gotta do this all over again throughout the state

Okay, I'll bite. How do you get the SDS100 to search for and display trunk info?

Maybe I'm missing something. With the pro-652 and unitrunker combo, I enter a lower freq limit, and an upper freq limit, let the scanner search, and when it stops on a control channel, Unitrunker will decode the data and store/show me all the system info (channels, TG's, users, ect). If I read the SDS100 "manual" correctly, I have to already have programmed into the radio, the info I am searching for (freq, site, and system info) before I can decode the data stream. Is that correct? Not much of a search, if the info is already there. Or am I still missing something?

With me, with bcd325p2, 436 and sds100 , I pre programmed every potential site to the UCA system with all frequencies from the fcc grants and made sure the band plans were adjusted for custom, as it found a control channel it would either show it as u hold on the control channel or held the site, sds100 would probably work if u hold the site, (function + hold site/Dept) it should ID the system being 7202 or 643E, site ID and control channel and LCN , if u have those displayed on your customized screen options on the sds100

I do have those lines on my display. I was hoping I could use the SDS100 for finding new/undocumented systems. Guess I'll just stick with what I have been using. It works. But thank-you for the info. It does help me to understand more about the SDS100. A complicated system, it is. Thank-You.

U can use any of the Uniden scanners that display the system ID and site ID as long as it’s already programmed in the scanner it will display it , the newer scanners will display it , one way or another

Lately, I haven't compared the FCC listings for UCA sites, to the actual frequencies in use.
But back when UCAN had its beginnings, the frequencies at the sites rarely matched FCC listings.
We had a discussion about this on the 7202 Group. A knowledgeable member had this to say:

For 800 MHz, the FCC allows the local frequency coordinator to use the licensed frequencies wherever they work best without interference. So basically UCA Executive Director Steve Proctor is free to use whatever licensed frequencies he has at whatever sites he chooses.
Since the site frequencies in use rarely matched the FCC records, the logical conclusion is that this was done intentionally to make it difficult for scanner enthusiasts to obtain the actual frequencies.

That is why we have members who take field trips with their Unitrunker and other equipment to decode the actual site frequencies and other information.

It's nice to have a website like this where we can collect and share this info instead of each of us having to find it for ourselves.

Bottom line: take the FCC 800 MHz frequency assignments with a grain of salt.

If they don’t stick with assignments they run the risk of several frequencies overlapping each other, which is the point of the licensing .. otherwise it would be a mess, UCA had emailed me back and made to the changes to match what was on the fcc...
