UHF live stream help

I’ve been trying to re-search this endlessly and I can’t seem to find a straight answer, mostly everything has to deal with trunking systems. I’m looking to provide a feed to thin line radio for UHF channels and I’m unsure how to go about it.
I plan on using nooelec dongles. Three frequencies are all in the 472 range so from what I’ve read, the one dongle should work for that? The other two frequencies are in the 482/483 range, again I’d assume one dongle would work for those two frequencies?
I’m not sure what software to use to receive / record the 5 total frequencies? SDR++?
Do I need another host site or something for the audio to go to? Or can it just be sent from the SDR++ right to the thin line app?
I apologize if the answers lie some where in this forum but I was unable to find it.

Take a look at software like SDR Trunk and Trunk-Recorder. They’re made for this. Both have the ability to send ingested audio to ThinLine servers via the Rdio plugin.

Take a look also at RTLSDR-airband. in Scan mode you can likely do it with one sdr stick since they are analog channels. The challenge will likely be that it is not a Windows program.

Never heard of Thinline but it looks to be the same as RDIO Scanner, just with an app for the phone. Trunking Recorder mentioned below basically does the same as RDIO Scanner/Thinline.


SDR++ with a scanlist, and or 1 dongle with DSDPlus and a scan list (or 2 dongles with 2 instances of DSDPlus with scan lists) can do it but if there is a call on any one of the freqs, the other calls will be missed. These 2 options operate like a traditional scanner.


SDRTrunk with 2 dongles should easily accomplish that and would capture any and all calls simultaneously on the programmed freqs as long as they are within the dongles bandwidth. (list the exact freqs if unsure) SDRTrunk and or DSDPlus coupled with Trunking recorder, Rdio Scanner or Thinline would be an option for streaming..

Trunking recorder, not to be confused with Trunk Recorder (which runs on Linux) can ingest audio from multiple programs (like SDRTrunk, DSDPlus, Proscan (for Uniden Scanners) and Unitrunker and stream privately or publicly.


If your just a Windows guy, Trunk Recorder and RTLSDR Airband are Linux only.

SDRTrunk and a RTL is all you need.

He would need 2 dongles. One for 472 range and one for 482/483 range.

Thinline is based on Rdio, forked from the original codebase. Rdio has a phone app as well.

Thank you all for your help. I successfully got SDR trunk running. My only issue is, I can only run SDR trunk when I right click the .bat file in the folder and select run as administrator. If I put the shortcut on the desktop, it goes to open and disappears. What am I or what did I do wrong?

How are you doing that? I have right clicked on bat and chose create shortcut, then cut and pasted the shortcut on desktop. Have also right clicked on bat and chose Send to -Desktop. Both have always worked.
