I’m looking to buy a RHCP uhf antenna for the UFO and FLTSATCOM satellites but I don’t trust any of the ones I see on Amazon so any of you have any recommendations?

PRCGUY posted about these. Sounds like they work very well. I have these article saved for later reference when building my own.

Hmm, that guy is hosting my article without my permission like it was his with no mention of the author and he lifted pictures of RR members mancow and Strandbiker1 and information off this site and reposted on his site. Plus he doesn't mention the antenna was specifically designed with lobes to work at a latitude centered on the US and may not work at other latitudes.

The original article appeared in Monitoring Times magazine and they probably have copyright on that, the version originally posted on Radio Reference was my unedited version that I shared with RR and should only be available for download from RR.

Well, he's thinking of you anyway. LOL sorry.

It's the 21st version of wild wild west.

When I was looking for your RR posting this one popped up first.

Are goose neck antennas also good for satcom? I’ve seen a lot of people use them before
You mean a short whip with flexible “gooseneck” section at the base? If so, no. UHF satcom radios on earth are intended to have a right hand circular polarize antenna typically with at least 5dBic gain for radios up to 20 watts. A flexible whip would be linear polarized with negative gain in circular polarity.
