Hey Everyone,

I was hoping someone might be able to answer a question in reference to UHF and Narrowbanding and how it might relate to the NCC Fire & EMS 400 / 500 MHz re-broadcasts. I am looking to get a few older Motorola Minitor voice pagers programmed so I can monitor Fireboard on one of the 400 or 500 MHz frequencies and I've seen a few of the Minitor voice pagers being advertised as non-narrowband... Here is an example…

MOTOROLA MINITOR IV (4) UHF NSV 2CH PAGER W/ MOTOROLA AMPLIFIED CHARGER W/ ANT!

Would a device like this work on our system in New Castle County? Or are there issues with narrowband frequencies in New Castle County... and a device like this wouldn't work?

Any ideas if re-banding will have any effect on narrowbands?

Thanks in advance for your time and help!

First you don't want that pager in the link for NCC dispatch because it's not the right bandsplit.

Second, rebanding and narrowbanding are completely different. For purposes of the 453.300 and 453.050 frequencies, you will only have to worry about narrowbanding. A pager that is not narrowband capable will have lower audio quality and may miss the tones if the audio isn't picked up clearly. A wideband pager can be used on narrowband channels, though.

Pagers/DE.

Anyone aware of any shop that sells used pagers that could be used on the kent county system? Or, that will reprogram such pagers. Is there a local Motorola shop (DE) that the Fire Companies use for their Pagers?
