Uhf/Vhf frequencies

I know that has been asked before, but I could not find the post. What are the frequencies ranges for UHF and VHF in regards to milair? I heard a milair conversation where the pilot said that he was going to uniform frequency.

A good basic question - the VHF range, often referred to as the Land Mobile band (LMR) or 'victor' is 138-144 mhz; the UHF ('uniform') freqs are between 225-400 Mhz.
