UHF - VHF Question

I had a 2-way radio given to me a few weeks ago and according to the back of the unit, it is for use with the UHF band. My question is, will this radio work for transmitting and receiving on the VHF band if I use a VHF antenna and have VHF frequencies programmed into it or is it strictly for use with the UHF band?

No, Probably Not

No is the short answer. Assuming it's a commerical and not a ham rig, the answer is almost certainly no, as there are rather few dual band commerical units, until the recent chinese gear appeared on ebay (e.g. Wouxun etc.).

While it is possible that with some hacking you might force VHF frequencies into a uhf unit, this won't make it function properly.

As he said. Unless it's a dual band radio then vhf will not be happening.

What kind of radio is it? Tell us numbers and model stuff. Can you send us pictures?
