• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Interesting... Some years ago, I had Motorola get eBay to pull an auction of mine for a GP68 because it was an export only product. It turns out that it (and many other Motorola products) are on a published prohibited item list that is searchable on eBay. Who knew!? RSS and CPS software is on that list.

But it takes action from Motorola to call it to the attention of eBay. So, that leads me to wonder... with Motorola in such poor financial shape, their stock prices in the tank, and much of their top talent tarred and feathered and chased out the door, do they have anyone left who cares enough to scour eBay to see what's being sold from their prohibited item list?

Well, it's gone now... Ended just after the first post in this topic -- It was either pulled or somebody bought it for $75 via "Buy It Now."

Cps On Ebay

Hey I seen this and had to reply
I got some of that software on eBay and it’s not a bootleg it was real and sealed. I understand and I have contacted the Motorola department that handles this kind of thing and they told me as long as it is not a bootleg of copied its ok to own of even sell in some cases. Just to let you guys know
I paid $75 for each and they were the real deal.

That happened under the Pat Harrington IP enforcement regime. He retired a couple of years back, and I am not aware of a replacement being appointed.

In any event, the software auctions have become *very* prolific over the past few weeks, so if one gets yanked at least two or three have already been posted in its place.

ASTRO 25 XTS XTL 2500 5000 REAL CPS...blah blah blah
In the future please do not post links to ebay for illegal sales of RSS/CPS. I'd rather not give those guys any business. I'm willing to bet many of these guys didn't pay for it.
