UHP just pursued a car witnessed involved in a crash SB on I-15 north of 600 South. Car pursued at freeway speeds involved in several other crashes while being pursued but car would not yield. Chase went EB on I-215 South exiting onto Union Park SB eventually being stopped. UHP cars damaged. One Trooper suffered "Bravo" injuries.

Comms were/are carried on SL Regional, SL UHP TG, Midvale TG.

Couldn't get it posted before it was over. Car never "sped away," it simply would not stop.

Midvale will be handling at least two of the crashes because UHP involved, the rest will be handled by UHP since they are freeway crashes.

The injuries suffered by one of the Troopers involved apparently happened when he pulled the suspect from his car. The car was not in gear and rolled back over the Trooper's foot. Ouch!

KSL News Story
A reckless driver has caused at least two accidents along Interstate 15.

The first report of an accident came in just after 11:15 a.m. on southbound Interstate 15 at 1000 North.

A short time later another accident was reported on I-15 and 900 West. In both cases the car responsible was said to be sideswiping other vehicles.

A third incident was reported on 5300 South and I-15.

A Utah Highway Patrol Trooper caught up to the driver at 4500 South and followed him onto Interstate 215 and blocked him at the eastbound Fort Union Boulevard off-ramp. Troopers boxed him in and with guns drawn demanded he exit the vehicle. When he didn't exit on his own they removed him from the car, but the car rolled and ran over the foot of one of the troopers. The trooper suffered a broken foot.

Inside the truck, troopers found several prescription drugs.

The suspect was treated at St. Mark's Hospital and will be taken to the Salt Lake County Jail.

A UHP trooper was injured and several cars were hit by a suspected reckless driver that caused a high-speed pursuit ending at Union Park Avenue.

Troopers followed the suspected reckless driver moving southbound on I-15 in Davis County headed for Salt Lake City. UHP caught up with suspect at 4500 South, but he refused to pull over.

Troopers said the suspect hit several cars prior to the pursuit. The driver was reportedly swerving all over the road. One person was injured in a crash.

"I was thinking are you kidding me? He just hit me and he's not even acknowledging it,” said Mindy Taylor. She says the man in the truck hit one of her rear windows but just kept going.

The driver went eastbound on I-215 and pulled over on the off ramp to Union Park Ave. Troopers held the suspect at gunpoint, but he would not respond to officers.

They pulled the man from the truck while it was still in drive. The truck ran over a trooper’s foot and he was transferred to the hospital.

UHP said that they believe medication may be an issue for the reckless driving.

The identity of the driver has not been released. He is reportedly from Farmington.
