uid descriptions

Just wondering what you all's method of adding descriptions to unit ids especially when multiple units might utilize the same vehicle, car radio vs portible, etc. For example, 78** is my hometown pd but each officer may use the same car. How do you begin to differentiate between all that. i utilize proscan. Everytime i try to perform this task i give up in frustration. Any tips would be helpful. thanks

I use a program called "ID Tracker" that allows you to enter labels for every UID.

Assign static names where it's clearly obvious that the UID has a singular static purpose (1003 = police dispatch console, 9019 = ems #17, etc...) and give functional group names to ranges of radios outside of that (2020 - 2090 = police portables, 3010 - 3299 = fire portables, etc).

it's your system, log it however you feel you want...whose going to complain...you? Naming radios shouldn't be frustrating.
