Hi,

Appart from the facebook page does anyone know of a UK based forum that can pull together the tweaks for the UK band plan?

Last week I provided some feedback on the UK bandplan, although you can program 27.78125FM the unit (TRX1, WS1088, WS1098 and TRX2) fix the actual frequency at 27.405. The gap is up to 28.000mhz, where it seems to behave ok. Same if you program a scan limit from 27.000 to 28.000 it skips from 27.405 to 28.000, switch to US band plan and it lets you monitor the correct frequency but forces AM.

Why don't Whistler (and Uniden for that matter) let users define their own bandplan to suit the country they are in?
It's not difficult.

Uniden have 30 different bands in their BCD536 where you can set individual step sizes and modulation types. Ideal would be to also have the band limits user selectable.

Yes indeed, the band limits are not appropriate in all countries.
Also the practice of using channels that are offset by half the bandwidth needs to be accommodated.
In the UK some systems that use 25k bandwidth are offset by 12.5k, and some that use 12.5k bandwidth are offset by 6.25k, so you get channels like 140.00625 140.01875 140.03125, etc.
Having to use the smaller step increases search time two fold.

It's the exact same way in many EU countries that uses offsets in their bandplans.

Only "scanner" I come across are Icom where you can set 446.00625 as a starting frequency and then select 12,5kHz step and that actually steps 12,5kHz using the offset.

When you program a motorola trunked system you have, in the site option tab, a custom table to set startfrequency, step size and offset. Something similar for the default bandplan would have been perfect.
