I drove through the area this past weekend, and I programmed the scanner according to what Radio Reference has listed, and I heard nothing on the system at all. I'm thinking I had something programmed wrong on my scanner. Anyone successfully monitored this system? I'm using a Uniden BCD396T using ARC396Pro to program it with.

Thanks,

Fred

I was just through Umatilla County on Tuesday and was hearing the system fine. Did you make sure you have the two custom tables programmed and enabled? That's usually what trips people up on this system.

Chris,

I think so. I have programmed in what was listed here in Radio Reference. These are the setting I have set for this system:

System Type: Motorola Type 2 UHF
Data Skip: Off
APCO25 Threshold: Auto (8)
ID Scan Mode
ENC Code: Yes/detect
Status Bit Off
Control Channel Only
Base Config 1: Freq: 0453.0125 Step: 005.0 Offset CH.: 380
Base Config 2: Freq: 0460.0000 Step: 005.0 Offset CH.: 536
Base Config 3: Freq: 0000.0000 Step: Blank Offset CH.: Blank

Frequencies (for Control Channel Only Trunking):
0460.1000
0460.2500
0460.4500
0460.6000

One thought I had would be to not "Control Channel Only" follow the system and put in all of the frequencies. Could this be what the problem is?

Thanks for the help,

Fred

Sorry for the typo, bt that should be End Code: Yes/Detect.

I programmed in all of the frequencies. It's not like I'm hurting for memory space in my 996T radio.

I don't know if that would make a difference, but you could try. The scanner should track the system the way you have it set up, unless they were using one of the 453.xxx channels as the control channel when you were trying to listen.

Ok, thanks for the help Chris. I go "old school" and program in all of the frequencies and skip the control channel only method. That might work better. I'll be driving through again tomorrow, so I will see how it goes.

DTSE is correct - I missed that in your programming. The STEPs should be 6.25 KHz, not 5 KHz. The scanner was probably being mis-directed by that setting.

I guess I'll have to try changing that step setting for the next time I go through. I set it for ID Search and nothing popped up despite getting a good signal strength. So I guess it is the step that is the problem. Unfortunately, I don't know when I will next be through there, so I try it again when I get there. Thank you everyone for the help!

about a year and a half ago, i had problems monitoring this system as a trunked system, so i just programmed in all the frequencies minus the control channels.
