Last I saw their members had HT1000's, and to my understanding their zone postings are not by police districts but north, central, and south

I don't think they assign units by zones. Certain trucks come on duty at various times during the day. Based on the call volume Newark has, I would think the closest available unit goes.

BLS Tour Information (# = tour # 1 and 3 are day tours, 2 and 4 are night tours)
1#01 - 0700 to 1900 and 1900 to 0700
1#02 - 0700 to 1900 and 1900 to 0700
1#03 - 0800 to 2000 and 2000 to 0800
1#04 - 0800 to 2000 and 2000 to 0800
1#05 - 1200 to 0000
1#06 - 1200 to 0000
1#07 - 1400 to 0200
1#08 - 0630 to 1830

2#00 series are ALS units
2#01 Primary coverage includes East Orange, Orange and parts of Newark.
2#02,3,4 &8 Primary coverage is the city of Newark.
2#05 Primary coverage is NIA, Port Newark & Elizabeth, and parts of Newark.

3#01 is the rescue unit

Spoke to one of their Medics today. They get posted to zones after each job, dependind on the call volume in each zone at the time is where they get posted. So if the south zone is busy they post more units in the south.

Portables are HT 1000's on VHF Med Ch. portables are XTS 1500's carried by medic units
Mobiles are mostly CDM 1550's, and some MTS 2000's.
