hi, fellow hobbyists. i unplugged my 996 this (sunday) afternoon to install a new power strip. when i turned it on, the scan worked, but the sixteen-key keyboard was dead. can't lock out, access menu, get WX, etc. the left knobs respond (e.g. dial light), but the board is dead. doesn't even beep. the memories are still there but, other than that, it's quite dead. any suggestions appreciated. pse post to board and, if possible, send personally to: jim@citilink.com

I had a some one I knew that had kind of the same problem. only 1-5 keys would work and nothing else. I did a hard reset on the unit and redown uploaded the file back into it and it has worked fine sence.

know why, not how

hey, rpgbigman. thanks for the response. i now see in the manual where it says to turn the 996 off before disconnecting power. that may be the source of the problem.

how do i do a reset, when the keypad doesn't work?

thanks, regards,

jim in st paul
