unable to monitor Hennepin county?

I have been able to program in Ramsey and Dakota freqs without a problem. but I cannot pick up Hennepin county. also when I ID Scan, it doesnt pick up anything on any bank, or just very seldom. so I ID search. I do not get anything from Henn CO. or any MTCO groups.. any suggestions?

What are the frequencies of the control channels you are using?

Hennepin county

I am using the frequencies listed under Hennepin county in the database, I have imported Minneapolis city center, North/South and Hennepin county East and West.

where are you located, which scanner are you using and what do you have for an antenna.

I am in SSP

I am in south st paul, I have a BC796D and I have a Radio Shack scanner antenna, (indoors),

In SSP you might be a little out of range of Hennepin with an indoor antenna. You might get better results if you put a good antenna up outside. You also could probably pick up several of the Hennepin talkgroups off the City Center, Ramsey Co, or Dakota Co systems.

do you think a discone antenna on the roof would suffice? also what grade of coaxial cable would you think I need? I am also thinking of putting up a shortwave antenna too.

I'd say with your current setup that you're out of range. You likely need a better antenna setup to get hennipen county
