To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Understanding the Hytera Contact List-Repeater Side R982i

Using RD982i for amateur/ham use, digital mode only. Using CPS, it is my understanding the Contact List of allowable Talkgroups, is necessary to allow only certain TG's to process through the repeater. However, I was informed by dealers, any TG on the RX input, will cause the repeater, to repeat. I tested this, and in fact, is true. Say the only TG in the list is 9. And 9 is programmed on the Digital Channel page as well. Any TG on the input, brings up the repeater.

How is the Contact List is used?

The DMR is run WIDE OPEN any talk group any radio ID accepted UNLESS you build the contact list to only allow specific talk groups.
If memory serves me right? each block turned on allows up to 100 talk groups in a block. So you should be able to lock it down by only putting the active ones you want within the 100 spots. I assume you only want to turn on a small handful for B/M? I believe they use slot 2 primarily? But I could be wrong. I would set a talk group and slot for local users that don't want to be on B/M.

What you describe is the way it should operate. However my Contact List has only 1 TG loaded, TG9.
That's it.
On the Digital Chan screen, in the box on the lower right, only TG9 is selected. See screenshots

However, a dealer warned me that this will not restrict TS2 to TG9 only. I have transmitted a radio on the repeater input with correct CC and TS2 and frequency, with other TGs such as TG91 or TG3110 and the repeater repeats in digital mode.

Has anyone actually run this test with different results? Am I missing a programming step? It seems as though the Contact List is irrelevant. As the dealer warned me, he said, he never found the Contact List to be a way to keep TGs out. (Apologies for hiding the freqs, have not disclosed the DMR plans locally)

Access Manager? I did not enable that. If I Enable and enter TG9 or a Digital ID, will that restrict TS2 to only what is in Access Manager?

I intend to IP Connect to Brandmeister for TS1, will Access Manager prevent that? Can it be TS specific?

You should be missing a step some ware Like I said you get ALL 65535 talk groups or the special ones and in your picture YOU didn't enable the IP connect!

NO IP CONNECT configured No NETWORK!

To follow up.
IP is connected now.
With IP Connect, Brandmeister will restrict traffic to a static TG.

However on the repeater air input RF frequency with correct color code and TS, there isn't anything known to restrict TG's. It's like keeping your front door open. This is the problem. Anyone can take over the Talkgroups with a radio on air.

Access Manger describes restrict radio ID's, not Talkgroups.

You have to enable the ACCESS list Open the CPS to FULL screen your missing it! Like I said before you have 65535 + users / talk groups OR you check the access list and enable up to 100 in a block X I forget how many blocks it has.

Hello!

I have similar problem here. I wish to restrict access to Hytera repeater by adding ID of radios that would be allowed and checked this "Local access management" checkbox. But no matter - repeater answers to any ID transmitting. Is there anything else I am missing? Let's say radio gave id 60 I enter range 1 to 10, but this radio with ID 60 is still able to transmit trough repeater.

I believe you can only lock down talk group id's not radio ID'S ? in blocks of up to 100 if no the repeater turns on all 65535 talk groups on the freq.
