If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Unication amplified base station no longer amplifying?

HI all. I have a Unication G5 sitting in a Unication amplified base station. The $200 one. They have been happily sitting on my desk for years, functioning as intended, until one day I noticed something sounded off. Normally when the G5 is in the base station, the volume is controlled by the front knob. Now the volume knob does nothing, and the volume is controlled by the G5 and the unit no longer amplifies. The charger still works.

Anybody experience these base stations dying?

I'd much prefer to not have to buy another $200 base station if I didn't have to. Tis a shame there seems to be only one option for these.

I don't own the amplified base, but maybe clean the contacts on the base and bottom of the G5.

I had this happen a while back on my amplified charger. . Clean the contacts on the charger and the pager and try again.

Same here in regards to the contacts. I need to clean mine fairly often. It will drop the audio most times but I also see loss of signal when the contact that supplies the external antenna signal to my G5 seems to get dirty.
Cleaning the contacts on the G5 and in the chargers base has always restored correct operation for me.

Appreciate it all. The contacts are golden and delicious. I gave them an aggressive finger rub but they are all shiny. I even tried twisting the unit around in the base a bit.
I wish I could find a working used one to buy. All the ones on Ebay are from one seller and brand new and non-returnable.

Try resetting the pager (hold 2 side buttons and top button). That has corrected the problem for me in the past.
