• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have all my conventional channels in 2 zones exactly the way I want them. I am getting great reception so I know everything's programmed correctly. The one thing I cannot figure out in the PPS is how to set up a scan list. Can someone point me in the right direction? I cannot find any help with this on the software itself.

Hey Manny, I hope you are enjoying the G3 over the G1.
You are half way there with the scan list.

The first step is to define every single frequency you want into your scan list as it's own Zone/Key entry.
Then, setup a new zone/key and refer to the prior defined single channels as your scan list.

Ex:
Zone 1 = NOAA
Ch1 - NOAA 1, Ch 2 NOAA 2, ..... CH 7 - NOAA 7.
Then, In Zone 1 Channel 8, set that for Normal Scan and then pick Z1/K1, Z1/K2, Z1/K3....Z1/K7 as the scan list entries.

I don't know if the G4/G5 PPS is the same that you use for the G3, but here's what it looks like. Basically, you choose knob positions to scan. Choose the receiving mode, "Priority Scan" or "Normal Scan".
Hopefully, that will get you going in the right direction.

BINGO! That was it! I had my channels set to "selective call" instead of normal scan. Thank you very very much.
