• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

In (conventional P25) I see the (NAC settings ) those channels are running spot on

My Local (1 site P25 system) is always out of Range on my G5, My SDS 100 with Stock Antenna receives it spot on.

I suspect a program Issue, as I moved though out my city with same issue.

Importing From RR, I verified All settings - Frequency‘s - WACN ID - System ID.

With The G5 in Diagnostics mode it’s showing NAC 1121, should be NAC 921

just Trying to Rule out Program Error

My Understanding is The G5 will always lock on a CC unlike, The Uniden SDS will always Scans for a CC

Maybe No NAC for P25 Trunking For The Unication’s ?

You can't have a NAC in hex of 1121, a NAC is only 3 digits in hex.

Is it showing Hex or Decimal when it shows 1121? Is the 921 the system ID or the site NAC, they aren't the same.

Correct G5 will lock on to the strongest CC, which may not always be closest or one you want. G5 also does not require a NAC per site, it looks for the system ID in the CC data.

Does This ffff only work on a one site system, as I tried it on a multi site system and The PPS gave Me a Error message.
If you are using 4 Fs that is not correct, WACN is 5 and SysID is 3, RFFS and Site are both 2...

P25 Trunking System Setting
  • The WACN ID can be set to 'FFFFF' which means pager can automatically search and match a appropriate WACN ID to use.
  • The System ID can be set to 'FFF' which means pager can automatically search and match a appropriate System ID to use.
  • The RFSS ID can be set to 'FF' which means pager can automatically search and match a appropriate RFSS ID to use.
  • The Site ID can be set to 'FF' which means pager can automatically search and match a appropriate Site ID to use.

Thanks Raleigh, I will keep playing with it ….Only owned The G5 for a week now ….My main issue of my local system is solved.

as I was getting a p25 system 70 miles away with the G5….. but Nothing on my local system 5 miles away.

One week of head scratching.

Not a problem, I would recommend only using wildcards (F) for site and RFFS, make sure you are entering the correct WACN and SysID to avoid possible contamination from another system

Do you need to enable Full spectrum scan to do this or, will it automatically look for any site it can find if you enter the WACN ID and System ID as intended then use FF and FF for RFSS ID and Site ID without enabling Full spectrum scan?

You do NOT need to be in Full Spectrum scan, however if you are not in FSS it will only check the frequencies for the site(s) entered.
