If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Recently one of my G4's, the one that previously had the beta software installed, has begun freezing randomly.

To explain it better, it normally happens when I turn it off for a short period of time. When I turn it off, all three lights on top flash and then I can't get the radio to turn on again without opening the battery door, pulling the battery and reinserting it. I am now having to do this about once a day.

Both radios are programmed with the exact same PPS file and my newer G4 that was never on the beta is totally fine, no issues what so ever.

The problem radio is running the latest public firmware that I re-flashed a few days ago, and am still having this issue.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Have you contacted your dealer ?About a year ago, I experienced the same issue and Unication determined a hardware failure and replaced my G5 under the warranty .

My dealer ordered a new battery and asked me to check the internal battery connectors for any signs of bend metals. In my case the battery was not an issue and there were no signs of bend battery connectors. There were no deformity in my amp chargers battery connectors. Consequently, Unication determined that the processor had to be replaced thus they gave me a new G5.

I will try switching the batteries between my radios. I use them at work so they run about 8 hours a day and get recharged again. Could very well be the battery. If that doesnt fix it, I guess it will have to go to the shop. Thankfully I got the warranty!

Hopefully they cover it under warranty or it is just the battery, it specifically says on Unication website once pager has the beta 1.4, not to go back to any other version, even though some have. I don't think anyone really knows for sure if there could be underlying problems from doing it though.

I hope it’s not an issue. But I reached out to their beta staff several times during the beta and never got a response, when they just ghosted everyone in the group. I ended up just having to revert because my radio was not functioning at all and I have to have it for work.

Tried switching batteries, the issue still exists. I noticed this issue after programming the TxWARN system for Houston before a trip last week, so I am going delete it and see if that might have caused some kind of issue.

Same issue, I was running the beta and having issues. Sent it in and got a new G4 because of the issue. I'd contact your dealer.

It's looking like the radio is going to have to be sent in. It now get's stuck in a boot loop and freezes up still.

Anyone know how long Unication typically takes for these kinds of repairs? I am starting a new job in a few weeks and work in news and will be needing my radio when I start.

My G4 constantly entered reboot mode on one system. Unication sent me a beta software and once installed the G4 doesn't reboot. The system in question has VHF and 700/800 control channels and that's what was messing with the 700/800 G4

Before you send it in, try to downgrade firmware to V1.20, blank out the codeplug then go back to v1.3 and hopefully you saved the codeplug used prior to adding in txwarn .

I deleted all of the TxWARN stuff from the codeplug since I don't need them anymore, still doing it. Have not tried downgrading yet, don't think I have any of the old firmware files anymore. I've pretty much had it with this unit for now, so I think I'll just ship in and get it repaired or replaced as soon as I move.
