• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Sucks, mine is a month old and still has the screen protector plastic on it. Is this why nobody accepts returns? 1990s technology. Great.

So how do you get an advanced model vs. a basic (per the charts) model? Or is this just for outside the US?

good question.why would they even make a basic model in the first place.whats weird is that you have a higher chance to have a Advanced Model G4 then you have getting info or your hands on the advanced G5.Maybe they can let us firmware upgrade the functions for like DMR 3 but would rather find out if they would give us option to get BT4.0

While waiting for a fix for the Apple iPods, for less than $25.00 you can probably get yourself a working pair of ear buds. I bought the SDFLAYER QY8 SE earbuds of Amazon. They paired instantly and work fine. No beeps or clipped audio. I’ve listened to P25 trunked systems and also some conventional systems with no issues. They were $23.99.

I just tried pasting the name of the earbuds you bought into the Amazon site. It gave no results. Is the name/model you listed correct?

Keep scrolling down to page 3/4 and 4/4. Just realized though that the model number is the one you choose in the PPS. There’s no G5P or G5S in my options.

I just, unfortunately, found out I have a G4 "B" model. Except for BT issue, does the latest FW bring the pager all of the features of the "Advanced" model?

Dont go by the chart in post 21. None of the other models are available in the US.
So for us its a G4 or G5 (different band splits). No G4s or G5s.

Just received my new G5 with the latest FM, and having difficulties pairing with my Bose QC 35 and plantronics explorer 500 .
Away from any other electronic devices , I have opened up my G5 BT , selected to be visible then search with no results . I realize that G5 is equipped with an aged BT 2.0 and most headsets are now BT 4.0 or higher however G5 should be backward compatible . I would appreciate any insights .

I also have the Bose QC 35 headphones, and I have never been successful in pairing them with the G5. I have tried clearing the headphone of all connections and still nothing. The G5 is the only device I have that will not pair with the QC 35 headphones.
