• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Yes DMR is supported... Check "RepeaterR if you are listening to a repeater...

and i am pretty sure all fire dept using drm use a repeater so i checked repeater mode so the internal antenna for that band 400mhz is not really good it's ok my G5 are very good on 700-800mhz with external antenna so i will use it only for that purpose

thanks

I have paid an additional $ for my upcoming G5 to be DMR flashed.
So DMR is an option you have to buy? I'll have to look at their homepage.

Found a used G5 on QRZ with charging base. Seller said he bought a SDS100 and doesn't need it anymore. I should have it tomorrow.

I bought a G5 VHF from Zop Scanners...the VHF with DMR and BT was an extra fee.

DMR is a firmware update. Not sure what is being sold to you unless I'm missing something. The firmware is available for free on Unication's website.

I didn't pay for the DMR BT model they offered, got the cheaper $645 one, a G5B66...it says G5B66 on the box, but when I read the unit, it called itself a G5B67 and shows DMR and BT...go figure. :-|

DMR is a firmware *feature*, which is enabled or disabled depending on the pager model number - at least that's how it is with the V1.20 firmware. If the model number is GxB66 or lower, DMR is disabled. If it's GxB67 (or maybe higher in future), DMR is enabled. It's not like there's a separate firmware image for DMR. There was a significant change to the BlueTooth implementation between firmware versions 1.10 and 1.20. Anyone running the 1.20 firmware, regardless of model number, will get the new BlueTooth implementation. I suspect that the vendor who is selling a "DMR + BlueTooth" upgrade is a bit confused.

Or they're charging more money for what is normally free.

DMR is not normally free - it was for a short time, but that was withdrawn. They seem to have confused the BlueTooth update with DMR enabling. They're really completely independent.
