Hope the moderators don't mind this post here...

My nearly new G5 is malfunctioning. The distributor (Ray's) suggested
trying a different battery before submitting a full warranty claim.

Is there anybody near Milwaukee that would be willing to meet with me to do the battery test. I'll
come to you on Sat 3/14 or Sun 3/15 and buy you lunch for your trouble.

Sure. After an overnight on the amplified base/charger, unit won't function. No display...only red LED next to antenna.

Battery pull, three-button reset, and all combinations of the two result in same. Only red LED. The three-button reset does show two orange LEDs like it's trying to do something. In the end right back to the red LED tho.

Have you tried to connect it to your PC in hopes that the PPS can see it - then maybe blasting in your codeplug again?

I have similar issue that occasionally after a full charge the G5 Processor does not engage and screen goes black. I had to turn the unit off and back on for G5 to stay on. My Issue has nothing to do with code plug, its the processor.
I spoke With Ray about this and he suggested that if this becomes a painful process to return it for a replacement,. I have a 5 year warranty .

blackbelter is correct. I'd seen that on one or two occasions too, but this time it's permanent :(

PPS no longer sees the pager, so can't try re-loading the configuration.

I had a second battery on my radar anyway so I went ahead and ordered one. But would still like to test with someone in the area this weekend.

FYI, i have had a time or two when the drop in charger (amplified and regular) did not charge the unit. So the battery would go completely dead.
Plug it into a powered usb outlet, not usb on a computer, and let it sit for a few hours and see if it comes back to life.
If you have a usb test meter that helps to show if its charging or not.
Just another thing to try out if no body with a battery can meet you.

If you are successful with the 3 button reset, you will see a line of dots across the bottom of the screen changing color left to right. It is very difficult holding those 3 buttons at once. You may not be succeeding with the reset.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I've had lots of practice the last few days with the three-button reset. Pretty sure I'm doing that correctly. PPS won't see the pager. Had a chance to meet with someone today to try a different battery and got the same results. I've submitted a warranty claim.

Try installing the PPS again. It installs the driver necessary to communicate with the pager. Do you have the correct model number selected? That is necessary to program the pager.

My experience was the same as the pager would no longer charge( even after the battery was replaced ) and the top two red Indicators came on . I took a picture of the inside of the unit ( under battery ) and Ray thought that the contacts were slightly pushed in thus the charging cycle could not be completed and the red lights were lit up . All turned out that the pager had a hardware issue and After 6 months was replaced by Unication. Incidentally they also replaced my amp charger as well . All is well now .

I guess I should follow up as the OP of this topic.

Mine went to the Unication service center in March as a warranty claim. Their notes were "no problem found". They received the unit, powered it up and it ran fine for several days. Got it back and all was well. It's been fine since then, other than some strange nuisances I think are associated with the new F/W and PPS. But those are for another thread...
