• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

So our county recently added a patch on our P25 Phase 2 700mhz system seen here Burlington County Public Safety (P25) Trunking System, Burlington County, New Jersey - Scanner Frequencies
to our VHF Fire/EMS Dispatch. The quality is fair but not great. I have had success getting the G5 to trip on the new patch for most of our Fire and EMS Crews. There are 2 companies that have tones around 313, 346 that will not trip using the patch. They work fine on the VHF analog frequency. I triple checked all of the settings under the knob, verified the correct tone frequency ranges were selected, etc. Could it just be too low a tone frequency for the pager to pick up in P25 Phase 2 mode? For the record I have 2 G5s and both have this issue. I have reverted back to FW V1.30, V1.31, and the new V1.32 Beta with no luck on either pager.

If you think the patch sounds bad, imagine what the pager thinks. Your going to have a hard time tripping the pager if your patch is not clean.

what are the 2 tone pairs for the companies that wont trip and give me one or 2 pairs that are working. The digital side of two tone paging unfortunately has a range for each frequency of tone. Instead of being able to pick 2585hz directly you have to pick the calue that has that in its range, ie. 2499-2590. where that becomes a problem is if the two tone are within the same range.
if some of the companies are working i would think the quality of the patch is not the problem, usually it works or doesnt.

So while they are very close they are at least one group away. So I am wondering if being how close they are the pager can’t differentiate the difference in tones coming through the patch, I know the analog to P25 patches on our county system usually sound horrible, with the tones that are further apart it can activate but the very close ones not so much
