If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I ordered the charger/amplifier from Scanner Master on 2/14 and received it today 2/17. That is good service.

I had two questions about this item that I have e-mailed to Scanner Master, but I thought the good folks on this forum might have the answers and/or additional information as well.

First, there were no operating instructions or brochure included with the shipment. I have checked the Unication web site and did not find any information. I always like to read about a new device before I power it up. Is it just as simple as installing the power adapter and plugging it in and not worry about any of the settings on the front panel?

Second, the Scanner Master ad says that the antenna is included. There was no external antenna included with my shipment. Is the Scanner Master ad referring to an internal antenna?

Thanks in advance for any information.

I downloaded a pdf manual for the charger / amp speaker from either the Unication or Rays pagers Web site. I'm mobile right now and will confirm when I get home.

Thanks for the reply.

I have to stand corrected. I just rechecked the shipping box after seeing your message of "an 18 whip" and found the antenna underneath the packing. The box holding the charger/amplifier could not hold an 18" antenna. My fault entirely on that. I'll e-mail Scanner Master to report that it was my mistake.

I would appreciate a link to the manual.

Here is a link for the G4-G5 Charging amp manual. I could not find where I first downloaded it but I will try and share it with you using my Google drive. If that don't work please let me know and I'll try sharing it with my Drop Box account.

It is a PDF file approximately 3.7 Megs - look in top right corner to download to your pc.

As far as getting started all I did was plug in the power connector from the wall wart then pushed the G4 inside of the charging cup. Mine was a tight fit at first that is now getting easier to connect. The amplified speaker automatically takes over the volume and you will need to use the volume control on the charger. Mine works with or without the external antenna connected. It seems both antennas are connected at the same time so you can remove one or the other - or use both - depending on which configuration gives you the best reception.

Seems like everyone is out of stock on the G4/G5 Amplified chargers. Anyone hear of any problems with them that has caused them to stop production?

Probably just supply and demand. They are temperamental like everything Unication makes. I get a charging error occasionally where the red charging light flashes after it has been charging and charging stops. It requires me to plug in the programming cable and it resets the G4. Nothing major that would halt production.

Compared to the build quality of the pager itself the charger/amplifier is lacking in my opinion. Especially when you look at the price. They make it look great in the web pics. More than satisfied just using the USB cable.

Exactly. $89 for a plastic charging base is ridiculous. The USB cable is plenty good enough. Spend $30 for a spare battery and you will always have power to go.
