• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I can sum up my best thought on the question presented in this thread as follows: I think the most helpful feature of a new PPS interface would be hyperlinks to link URLs to videos with examples of setting up features. One of the comments above was right - as a new user myself 6 weeks ago I could not figure out PPS without watching programming videos. Well produced videos on how to setup a P25 system on a Unication radio from scratch, set up alerting and decoding, how to use Radio Reference, etc., will go a huge way to helping new users. Sure, clean up the interface its always nice to see a refresh (well, I'm only 6 weeks in so its already fresh to me), but the addition of professionally produced videos would be a nice professional aspect to join the refreshed PPS software. I also think a video on P25 basics and how these systems work would go a long way to help educate the end user (i.e., explaining basic principle of P25 simulcast, what is a System ID, WACN, Control Channel, RFSS, Site, etc.), because getting the end user to a baseline level of knowledge will be super helpful when the topic is addressed in the programming videos.

Well since you are kind enough to ask...... Maybe lay the foundation for alpha tagging TGIDs ? :p

In any event, thank you for participating on a public forum like this and soliciting input from your fan base.

You properly called me out. I did not mean TGID. I meant alpha tagging the unit keying up as in the portable or mobile unit. In fact you threw me off my game so hard I cannot think of the proper acronym.

I want to see the option to move talkgroups and other items within a list. Just for ease of housekeeping.
I like this too, combing through that giant list can be a chore. It's okay if you can't. Really impressed with the decode either way.
