To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have Unication Alpha Legend+ pagers and programming cradles.

I was working on two pagers for now.
I tried using PPS to write new programming into a pager and it said it won't work.
I read the other pager and noticed that they have different codeplug number designators.
One pager shows codeplug R08.02.09. One pager shows codeplug R08.03.01.

I looked around and found that the computers have different versions of PPS.
Most computers have PPS version R08.02.09.
Apparently a newer computer got PPS version R08.03.01 installed on it and this pager got programmed with it.

I got this pager programmed. I noticed that I had a typo in the name and got interrupted. I got back and placed a pager in the programming cradle and programmed in the correct info. Discovered that I had programmed the other pager with the newer PPS. Now I have TWO pagers with the newer codeplug.
It looks like the pager codeplug version is the same as the last version of PPS that it was programmed with.

I don't want to change the PPS in the other computers. I wanted to just change the PPS in this one.
I would like all the pagers to have the older codeplug in them so that they can be programmed with the older computer.

Is there a way to go BACK to the older codeplug?

Generally with Motorola radios you would have to have the old codeplug saved to revert, and depending on the radio it can be a pain or a matter of loading the old codeplug with the old software and just programming it to the radio without reading anything.

The best solution in the long run is probably to upgrade the software on the other workstations.

I finally got back to this...

The pagers that have been programmed with the newer PPS version R08.03.01 cannot be READ with the older PPS version R08.02.09.

I found an old saved codeplug and just programmed the pager using the older PPS version R08.02.09.
It worked fine and went back to the old codeplug.

The best solution in the long run is probably to upgrade the software on the other workstations.
Yes, I think that this will happen. We got a batch of new pagers in and the older PPS version R08.02.09 would not read them.
I expect that they have been programmed with a newer PPS version.
Instead of downgrading the programming in the new pagers, we will probably just use the newer PPS.

I haven't noticed anything different between these two versions of the PPS. Is there really any difference?
