Hello everyone
I own a Unication G5 Pager and was wondering are there any counties in Md that still page volunteer firefighters.I would like to setup my G5 for paging..I live in Balt County and from what I understand they no longer page on the VHF side..Are there any other counties that do?
Thanks

Many counties on the eastern shore page their fire members. Much paging is still done on VHF but a few are beginning to offer paging via the FiRST system. Tone sets can be different between analog & digital (even for the same companies) due to overlap of the QCII pairs when they are transmitted on P25 Phase 2. Talbot is an example of a county that pages on VHF and 700 Mhz. I'm pretty sure Queen Anne does too from what I've heard being broadcast on their 700Mhz dispatch channel.

The good thing is that his G5 will most likely be able to decode tones sent over 700/800 systems. Not sure what Cecil is doing; Harford is UHF, Carroll might be possible, as well as Howard. And certainly AA as mentioned above. Not sure what's going on with PG, but Montgomery does VHF.

Baltimore County still pages Volunteer but they do it on VHF Low frequency of 46.460, a frequency that the Unications will not do.

A side note. In AACo, their CAD system is linked to PulsePoint. PulsePoint is an app (and web service) that rebroadcasts various fire / rescue incidents for associated departments (and people in need of CPR near an app-equipped smartphone.) Typically, the county's CAD system sends out the call, followed by a voice announcement of the call type and location, then a full dispatch announcement. I believe the tone alerts are sent out just prior to the full announcement. The CAD is what alerts the stations and vehicle MDTs (and probably some official pagers / smartphones.) It is common to see apparatus rolling before the full announcement goes over-the-air.
