• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Unication PPS download problem

I am trying to download the Radio Reference database for St George, Utah through the PPS, but the drop down for Trunked Systems only offers the new P25 Phase 2 trunk, which is in the testing phase. It has no active TG's that I have heard; active traffic is only on the original UCA trunk. The original Phase 1 trunk does not appear in the download menu, although it is in the database when I access it directly. Any ideas how I can download it without recreating it manually? Thanks!

Yes, and so is the original system, which I am currently monitoring on my SDS-100. I also monitor the Colorado DTRS system, also a Smartzone system. If you understand the system, it can be monitored. Of course, the Unication does not affiliate, so that is a limitation.

The new system will download, but the old system is not available on the RR download drop-down. That is the problem.

Unication G pagers DO NOT support SmartZone TRS, end of story. You can just set up voice channels and monitor them without trunk tracking but it would have to be set up manually. No RR import. The degree to which this works depends upon how busy the system is.

An SDS100 supports SmartZone, so not sure what your point is about comparing the two.

Correct, it won't download because it's a system incompatible with Unication receivers. This is not a bug.

Since UCA is going to be switching to the new P25 system soon (starting in a couple of weeks), you may want to go ahead and import it to the G5. It is kind of a pain since there are four zones with different system ID's, so the RFSS and Site ID's overlap. All of southern Utah is 028(hex). If you try to select all it will give you an error. The easiest way is to have the window open over top of the RR page while picking out sites for import.

Are you sure that the CO DTRS is a Smartzone system? Isn’t it P25 Phase I?

Or am I missing something? I’m confused.
The OP is trying to download the Utah Communications Authority (UCA) Motorola Type II SmartZone system which the Unication G4 and G5 pagers do not support.

I get that. However, the OP seems to believe that because he is able to monitor the CO DTRS system (which is incorrectly identified as a Smartzone system), he should be able to monitor a smartzone system on the Unication.

That is not a P25 system. It is a Motorola Type II SmartZone system which the G4 and G5 pagers do not support. You will not be able to program the system manually either. The new P25 system is scheduled to be online soon.
