Trying to program MARCS M-T/A-1,2 and 3 into a Unication G5. They are:

852.1375 293 NAC M TA-1
852.3625 293 NAC M TA-2
853.650 293 NAC M TA-3

I have an entry for each under 'conventional frequency setting', not under P25 on Tab D-2.
I have a knob set for each in a zone in tab D-5. When they are set to P25 Conventional, I can enter the Network Access Code of 293 but it then requires a talkgroup ID at the very bottom under 'Talk Group List'. Having trouble getting past that last part.

Hoping someone knows the answer to this. My local FD switches to M-T/A-1 for everything.

Hope this thread is well placed. Couldn't find my answer after ten minutes of searching, maybe I used the wrong search terms.

Thank you all!

As an update, I figured that I needed to create a P25C talk group in order to assign one to the knob position. Here's to hoping that FFFF is the right ID to not filter any incoming P25C signals.

In Tab 2, you enter the frequency

In Tab 5, you enter the FFFF for the P25C TGID

In Tab 6, You enter a knob position with the frequency from Tab 2, P25 Conventional protocol type, the NAC, and Squelch option "Monitor"

I wouldn't worry about MTA-3. Portage Depts. didn't get that one. With exception of a historic Mill burning down, I've never heard anyone using MTA-2, either.

Talkgroup 1 is typically the default for conventional interop channels. Pretty sure that's what M TA-1/2/3 are using.

Much appreciated! Everything programmed up nicely. Now time to wait for another call where they use M-T/A-1.

Thanks!

Speaking of that mill fire, this was the view from the parking lot at work on that morning. This specific incident is why I'm finally getting around to programming in the M-T/A channels.

FYI - MTA-3 is the output freq of a Summit site 2 repeater. That's why it's not programmed in Portage radios.

Indeed, I was surprised to hear a Tallmadge unit call back from the hospital when I tuned in.

Word on the street is that M T/A 1 is getting reassigned similarly to a new site in the east side of portage and M T/A 2 will be the only remaining talk around for portage county.

There were discussions to eliminate the MTA's statewide due to conflicts and use the national 700Mhz I/O channels. Hopefully MARCS will move forward with their plans to building a simulcast system in Portage.

For what it's worth, Kent had a residential structure fire 12/8/22 at 1600hrs, where Brimfield, Stow and Tallmadge were directed to make contact on MTA-1.

They're simplex so you have to be very close. But yes, they do get used from time to time.

I'm familiar with them. I know they have a very limited range. Are you hearing them while mobile or at home?
You have to almost have the user in sight.

Mobile, and at work with a decent antenna on the roof. Even then it's only good for about a mile at most.
