Uniden 296d

I am looking at getting one of these scanners. I want one of the best. Is this the better of the handheld scanners that uniden has. Do you have to add a digital card to get digital systems or does it come with it?

As of right now the top of the line digiscanners from Uniden are the BC296D, and the BC796D. Both of these already have the card built into them and are digital ready from go. Currently the only digiscaner from GRE, is the Radio Shack PRO-96.

They are NOT built in - they can be removed (and in some instances the jiggling of the scanner has caused troubles...)

You most likely will have to order the BC296D directly from Uniden. There are not many shops that stock the top of the line Unidens anymore.
The only other places that you might get lucky are on the equipment for sale forums here, or on ebay.

As for the card... UNLIKE the BC250D, you do NOT have to friggin get the card extra.. its already installed... thus its not extra....
not to mention that the 296D's are good for the ASTRO-25 systems, where as the 250D's are NOT.

GRE is the primary manufacturer for Radio Shack. You CAN buy a PRO-96 which is the digiscanner from them at most Radio Shack Stores. (PRO-2096 the base/mobile is expected on shelves January/Febuary)
