I have an issue. I am trying to load freqs on my scanner, but when i plug in the usb.........I get the message saying that the scanner usb device not recognized........Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)... I have tried a few things.......I am not sure what to do. I have tried rebooting, unplugging computer for a bit, update device driver which windows 7 does not automatically.......which claims it is ok and current. I have tried various usb plugs on the computer.........Any ideas......

I have not nor know how to upload new versions of firmware.....

On my computer at home, it works and i am able to load. I am at parents for a week and tried 3 computers, all which show the same device not recognized.......... HELP!!!!!

Try going to the website of the driver maker and see if an update is available.

Also try plugging in some other mass storage device like a flash drive and see if it is recognized. Other than that, not sure what else to offer.

what happens to me is windows loads drivers but not the right ones. Unistall use device manager and remove that port. Then install the correct drivers, then plug in the cable. Been there done that!

Something to keep in mind - it's been reported that Prolific has started modifying their drivers so that they only work with authentic chipsets. Anything else will cause the driver load to fail.

If you got your cable off of flea-Bay, you might be running into this situation
