Uniden 436 not recognising batteries

Hi all. Just recently my 436 (well its a 3600 because its the european version) has stopped recognising batteries. It wont power on and if I plug into USB I get "No battery" error message. Tried two different sets of batteries same result. Same batteries work fine in my Whistler and Uniden 396. Common problem?

Not a common issue. Have you tried some normal AA's (not rechargeables)?

Will it power on with USB power connected?

Could be a bad solder joint for a battery terminal or You may want to try a hard reset while on USB power. Press and hold 2, 9, and Dept. when you power on the scanner this will clear all user data.

The charging port on my year old SDS100 was defective. Uniden replaced the entire unit under warranty.
