Uniden 780xlt

I need help programming a 780xlt for EDAC 800 trunk system..I have followed all instructions, but it still monitors all of the system?? HELP

Are you putting in the SCAN mode and not the SEARCH mode when you begin scanning? Also did you set the bank as an EDAC trunked type?

did you enter any ids? if your not hearing the beep at the ned of the transmission, then your almost there.

i would suggest buying software to program this radio- it will make your life much easier!

I have programmed the correct system, ID's and the id numbers do not show up when scanning?? it scans like a conventional scanner even in trunk?

I can't seem to get it to scan the id's?? I havent ben able to find the list I put them in, just the bank??

I must be missing something. I have had scanners for 30 years and I can't beleive I can't get this working.. little embarassing to be honest !!

When I first got mine, I programmed in the local cops. They had a little 3 frequency EDACS setup. I set it for EDACS-Narrow and, if memory serves, it acted very similar to what you are describing. Changed it to EDACS-Wide and everything came right.

I also remember something about having to press trunk after programming the frequency...or maybe that's in the 245 or 250...

Unfortunately the EDACS was replaced with a totally encrypted P25 system......so I can't play with it to give you more help.

if you put the radio on the data channel, you should see ids on the screen.
if not, you are either out of range or have it programmed to the wrong edacs system.

how strong is the data channel? if its noisy, the 780 probably wont decode it. to solve that problem, you can buy anexternal antenna or upgrade to a bc796- it has a better decoder in it for fringe areas.

also, make sure you have the channels in the correct order and not locked out.

I will give it try. I am close to the tower and have a strong signal, so it should work.

did you ever get it? I have the same problem here but i am trying to do a Motorola type II here and i get the same thing. When i put it into trunk mode all i get is scanning. i have tried to program it several times with ARC780 and still nothing. I have a BCT8 and 246T so i do know how to program but it would seem like i am missing something or overlooking something. Any suggestions
