• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

These are my recommendations to him to R&R what’s present. Then has some backup to go with new higher quality components. A new start point.

QT-60 AM/SSB (this retailer)

DRX-4561 56” Antenna (14.0” clearance with below, but with spring and a stud with some “give”. Much less expensive antenna to replace).

DRX-3232 Antenna Mount

DRX-1518 18’ Coax Cable

DX-244 Spring (4’ and taller)

DRX-9010 Speaker

QD-2 Quick Disconnect (second one for shorter antenna).

Why not just buy it direct from Radioddity? They just had them on sale for $189.99 (yes the qt60pro). I ordered one for a buddy last week. Save $60 and do the conversion yourself. Snip white wire, move jumper. Done. Once the case is opened and the seal is broken the warranty is void anyway, so why throw money away to have someone else make 1 small service menu adjustment? (if it even needs it) Just curious.

I had those Hustler QD's on all three of my mounts, but never was satisfied with the contact (there's wiggle room between the barrel and the pin, and the internal spring isn't heavy enough to stop the slop).

I swapped them all out for Breedlove's threaded QD's. Better design and well made. More secure, better contact, and cheaper.

Noted. Thanks for reminder. I’ll pass that along. I have (had) five of them and gave him one. Almost new and recently re-furbished. I paid an average of $27/ea.

It’s highly important he be able to reach out and remove instantly.

— The xtra-long SS shaft we used on which the W2000 is mounted is going into his lathe to turn down to a custom height. This particular QD-2 is tight enough it’s not EZ to remove. It may get some TLC as a result.

I’ve nearly always gotten out the Dremel to remove burrs on these.

I use my Breedlove QD with my 10K. But it’s not “quick” to remove. I’d rather not wear down the threads on the 10K.

But he may choose differently.
