PROSCAN! Wanna know why? search the forum for posts by me with keyword "recommend Proscan". Not going to bother repeating what I've said in umpteen threads. 30 day free trial, $50.00 gives you two activations & periodic app updates. No, I am not a paid endorser but I should be ;)

Sticking with the "free" part of the original question I'll have to recommend Freescan. I believe it's the only free program out there. I hardly ever make changes to any of my scanners and have always used Freescan on the radios that support it. For the price I can't complain. Haven't tried it on windows 11 but it works on 10 just fine for me.

I have a 396XT does sentinel work with the 396/996 XT?
I use Butel ARC-XT Basic for my BCD396XT, BCD996XT, BCD325P2, and BCD996P2. The Pro version adds features such as virtual control and logging. Although ProScan supports many more Uniden Scanners and has many features, I personally find it easier to use ARC-XT. Both ARC-XT and ProScan have a free trial period for you to decide which one you like best. For anyone using the above scanners plus the BCD396T and BCD996T, here is a PDF file which will answer all of your questions about using quick keys:

proscan is the way to go and is well worth the fifty bucks and all the support you will ever need or want versus free scan which is free but no longer supported or updated and is near end of life.

remember one thing, you get what you pay for.
