I paid $349 in RS in Cerritos CA a couple of weeks ago. Glad I did, I have a feeling these great scanners are going to get bought up and someday be hard to find. I have another 996XT, but figure a second one can't hurt. Primarily use the new 536HP and 436HP, but especially for CC info, Unitruncker, and currently, for streaming such as ProScan, still is a great scanner. The one I bought for $349 was brand new. Had not been opened or repackaged. (Wish I had bought a PSR-800 when they were around)
