Uniden today announced a companion feature to their popular "Close Call RF Capture Technology." Dubbed "Near Miss Intuitive Tuning", the feature automatically tunes the scanner to frequencies close to the action the user wants to hear.
By analyzing the radio traffic in the area of a Close Call hit, Near Miss determines where the most interesting transmission just happened and tunes the scanner to that transmission's frequency--typically within milliseconds after the end of the transmission.
"While the user won't actually be able to hear the transmission, we think that they will still appreciate the fact that we tried really hard" comments Ivan Lirpa of Uniden's R&D group.
Expect Near Miss to show up in Uniden's next generation of scanners, due out later this year.
