ps, I'm just thankful there's stuff on the market that allows anyone to listen to trunking, and digital comms - something we could not do in the not too far off past. Thanx Uniden.

I don't want to jump into the debate, but I would like to go back a little further and say thanks to Greg Knox.

The last stock antenna I used on a scanner was on my Bearcat 100... after learning a little more I expected a lot more and found that a more freq-specific antenna was in order.... I can understand putting a basic stick in the scanner box so "it looks complete" and will at least hear something out of the box. Over the years I have paid a mint for Rat Shack 800 meg antennas (really good ears, in my opinion), the various Austin Condor models; have been newly initiated to Diamond antennae and find them to be very good. But all of the unused stock ears are still here, in a plastic bag, so when the unthinkable happens I have a temp 'til the new ears arrive.
