Hi

I'm kinda new to this but heed help . I brought a 536hp scanner through Amazon .com I have two problems . First one is I have a new computer and keep getting asked for a code for the program to program the scanner which I no longer have . 2nd is I think Uniden need to replace my wifi dongle as its disconnecting all the time and sometimes won't even connect . I don't know where to go or who to talk to . I really want to use this new app now it's finally out . I was told there is a upman here who work at Uniden Nd he would help me .

Thanks

Tim

The Sentinel SW doesn't require a code. Are you using something else? On the dongle, how often is it disconnecting? When it won't connect, has the IP changed?

Hey Tim

Yea great name . I'm in Dunedin New Zealand mate. I'm guessing ur in. Florida in America

:)

Yea sorry bout that just noticed NZ in your last post.

You need to use the sentinel program from this link BCD436HP < UnidenMan4 < TWiki

Download the program to your computer and install it.

Once installed connect your scanner to the computer via a usb cable then run sentinel. This is what you use to program the radio.

To check the wifi dongle I would use the Rh536 software this program will allow you to connect to the wifi dongle to make sure its working follow the instructions on the link below...
BCD536HPFirmwareUpdate < UnidenMan4 < TWiki

follow these instructions on the radio
On your 536 scanner
#1 press menu
#2 scroll to wi-fi setup press yes
#3 scroll to set connection press yes
#4 scroll to infrastructure press yes
#5 pick your network press yes (enter wireless password for your network press yes)
#6 pick show wi-fi information (this is the address you connect to)
#7 press menu until scanner returns to scanning
#8 start your rh-536 software enter your scanners address and setup VLC media player and follow directions on the uniden 536 support page

Can someone put me in touch with Paul from uniden. I think the dongle is dead. The light don't always come on when plugged in and it won't let me up date it. I think it needs replaced. I called uniden nz Nz they said I need they cnt help as they don't support that product nd to call uniden America. I'm at a loss as to what to do. I feel they sold me a dud scanner.

Hey Tim the easiest thing to do would be to buy a new dongle since Uniden America only supports North American repairs. Ask the NZ UNiden for a way to buy a new dongle they are cheap like 35 usd or so.
FYI this web page says they repair scanners.

Buy the dongle here

Thanks heaps for the help guys. Ur a great bunch of very clever people. I really appreciate the information assistance and advice I have been given here cheers.

Looks like replacing the dongle is the best thing to do but the point is I should not have to be paying with my own money for a new one in the first place just because uniden screwed the releaser makes me angry we all paid good money for those scanners and were completely screwed over however they seem to be getting things sorted now which is really good so I will go and order a new dongle thanks again everybody

Yea it does suck you have to pay but in your unique situation being in NZ its probably the best cheapest and fastest recourse.
Let us know if you get it working with the new dongle.

That's one of the pitfalls when you import a scanner designed for another region. Any issues will require another export/import action.
