Uniden BC 898T newbie start-up

Hi there and thankyou for letting me be apart of your site.... I recently purchased a Uniden BC 898T and have never used one before and have no clue as to where to start other than plugging it in and turning it on.. I am near Barrie ontario and would like to set up my scanner... Can anyone help me to figure this out

Thank you so much. I bought my unit off of ebay and was feeling a little overwhelmed with the whole thing.. This was a christmas present for my hubby and although it was new in the box i wanted to make sure that the unit was working....Anyways i used your link and programmed in some channels and i am picking up on locals in my area. So again thank you so much....

Are you picking up trunked activity or conventional radio?
You want to make sure you are receiving both.
