Inside? There's no plugs except for the battery in the battery compartment and on the side for charging.

i have to send my digital scanner out to be fixed and i dont want to be without a scanner so i dug this one out but totally forgot how to program it ! its been so long

Not programmable by computer, but it's still a good scanner. I fired up my Radio Shack Pro-90 a few weeks ago, which is essentially the same scanner as the 235. Mine still works great. Doesn't track re-banded trunk systems of course, or anything digital, but it's still useful for a lot of stuff in my area. The only other thing it lacks really is alpha tags.

Radio Shack has a reference page for the Pro-90. Might be of help. There's a link to the owners manual PDF, but it didn't work for me. Still, you might glean enough from the other links:

Weird. I just looked at my Pro-90, it doesn't have that port. Only a charging port.

It doesn't do PL tones.

sparklehorse i know there is a way to scan regular frequencies and a trunk talk group with the press of a button . Can you help me out with that ?

I used to use a program for my 245. It was by SENSE. I think that was his name. Don't remember if that was the name of the program. I've seen people looking for it awhile ago but I couldn't find it. I have to look in my 3 1/2 discs. (yes I still have a tower with a drive)

Yes, Rebranding killed mine also on Mot Type 2 systems. But its very easy to program by hand

Are you a member of any Yahoo Groups? There use to a 245 Group. I haven't been there in a long time nor received any thing. The program I mentioned might be there. I'm working midnight now or I'd look.

Actually that radio is much more likely to be a 245 then a 235 - the 235 could not be programmed with a PC, as mentioned before.

Apart from the horrible Scancat Lite Plus, I rather doubt that there's any program out there under current development that supports this radio any more. Probably the best of the lot would be Scan Control; I *think* it's still being supported, though not actively developed (I keep on hearing random notes about this...). The Senss software is another option

One thing to keep in mind is that with Win 8.x, many of these older programs might not run at all. I know Scan Control ran under Win7.x, but whether that, or the Senss software, will run under Win 8.x (or Win10, for that matter) is unknown.

You will also likely need a USB-serial converter; the USB-1 isn't rated to run with this radio, so you might be better off with an off the shelf solution. This article from our wiki goes into great detail via links about some of the pitfalls (and some solutions) for Win 8x issues...

There are, unfortunately, no programs I know of that will load data from our database. Scan Control used to have a utility for this, but the database has long since changed format, and I doubt it would work anymore.

If someone were to come up with a 245 solution that included web imports, it might have some popularity, as there's still a number of these radios out there...Mike
