Hi
I would like to know how many have this Uniden BC246T Scanner? Here is the link for what the scanner looks like? BC246T - The RadioReference Wiki My buddy has this scanner that he got last year cause he wanted to get into Police Scanning. He should have asked me to give him some advice on what scanner to buy but he and me are having a problem to program it. But I have found a way to get his Scanner done so then he could start listening to it with letting it just scan around and then to stop on something and listen to it. So this Software looks so easy for me to program his radio along with my 2 radios that I have. So I hope to get this software for my birthday gift.

Ive had my 246T since back in January. I like it alot but I do have complaints with it. I have certain TGIDs locked out on my main 800 System but somehow traffic on the locked out channels seems to show up on another ID which I know isnt the correct one. The reception could be better. If I would have known the 346 was coming so soon I would have waited and got it. Other than that I like mine. I use the FreeScan program with mine and it works fine.

The TG that you do not want to listen to is probably patched to a TG that you do want to listen to sometimes.

I love my 246 but the memory is a bit small if you use a lot of text tags.

Try this manual, many people find it easier to understand and may help the OP with programming.

The software is free from FREESCAN or BcTool.. does programming radio control etc etc

Butel.nl also offers a trial period (maybe 30 days) to use it and get it programmed. After that its at a cost.

If you get another one get a 346XT (replacement for the 246), unless you can get a great deal on the 246 (maybe clearance price)

I am planing of bying the BC246T. I was just wondering a few things. First, can you scan both, frequencies and talkgroups at the same time? If so, are they store in the same banks are in different banks? Second, Is there an option to scan talkgroups to discover some?

Terminology has changed...no such thing as banks. But the basic answer to your questions are "yes." You can program both conventional systems and trunked systems and scan them all. You can also run in either ID Scan mode for a trunked system (where the scanner only stops on TGID's you've programmed in) or ID Search mode (where the scanner stops on all system activity).

It would help us if you would link to the system in the Database...from the limited information you provide: Probably yes on the Analog part of the system and no on the APCO 25 (digital) part of the system.

Hi,
about 4years ago I also had this exact radio, nothing but problems (unless Uniden fixed it). Batteries lasted two hours, audio was so low even with an ear phone & last, sensitivity was pooooor!!!! I shipped it back right away. The tinier the products are, well, not much coming out..

EMS: Yes
OPP: No
Have a look at the part of the database where the talkgroups are, under the "Mode" column. "D" is digital, you're SOL..."A" is analog, you're good to go.

For Bell FleetNet After you entre the syst. freqé the off set and another thing, do you also need to enter all the TG or the scanner does that for you automaticly? Also, what software come with the scanner
