Uniden BC248CLT getting channels too close together

My friend has a BC248CLT, which has no CTCSS capabilities and my county has an OPS channel on 453.6625 and Metro Police 453.650, and I've been hearing 453.650 stuff on 453.6625. I realize they are very close but it's annoying because it's harder to hear Metro stuff on 453.6625, probably because that's not the proper channel.

Turn up the squelch the full, not auto, and see if that helps. Otherwise a scanner with tone squelch should solve the problem, but not cheaply.
