hi all new member I live in st Charles county Missouri. Will a BC 250D operate properly for the P25 system here . I am considering buying one from EbAY and want to make sure it will work. Thanks to all Ken
Welcome to RadioReference, Ken
The 250D (assuming it has a functioning digital card installed) would work on this system:
St. Charles City - 800 MHz Trunking System, St. Charles, Missouri - Scanner Frequencies
While this system is Motorola Type II, it does have some digital talkgroups.
However, it will not work on the newer P25 system:
St. Louis Regional Communications (P25) Trunking System, St Louis Metro Area, Missouri - Scanner Frequencies
Nor would it work on the statewide P25 system,
MOSWIN.
For those two systems, you would need a later model digital scanner, one from the groups below:
Current Model:
GRE PSR-500 (Handheld)
GRE PSR-600 (Base/Mobile)
GRE PSR-800 (Handheld)
RadioShack Pro-106 (Handheld)
RadioShack Pro-197 (Base/Mobile)
RadioShack Pro-18 (Handheld)
Uniden BCD396XT (Handheld)
Uniden BCD996XT (Base/Mobile)
Uniden HomePatrol-1 (Base/Mobile)
Slightly Older Model:
Uniden BCD396T (Handheld)
Uniden BCD996T (Base/Mobile)
I did not include the BC296D (which was the next Uniden model after the 250D), nor the Pro-96 (the base mobile versions of these are the BC796D & Pro-2096 respectively). Those scanners cannot trunk track sites using 700MHz frequencies, and looking at both of the systems, the St Charles Simulcast site shows to be using frequencies in that band.
