Yeah it does a fine job,scans fast, AM/FM works good. I keep mine locked in on 42.940 most of the time. But if your wanting to listen in on any 800mhz or a trunking system then this scanner is not for you, It's 25mhz to 512mhz only and as for worth the bucks......I don't think I would give a $100 or $120.00 which is what they sell for new(I think) mine was a freebe. I would look around first at others units, Check the database here on RR for your city and county freq's make sure on what ya need before you buy.
