Looking for a wiring diagram schematic for my recently purchased "modified" scanner.

1) I have searched this forum, but all the previous posts with links, for some reason I can not open up; as if they've been moved/deleted/expired.

2) I have also searched online with no results. Just links to download the owner's manual.

3) I have emailed Uniden tech support, but no response. Being an older model, it may not be on top of their priority list.

Purchased used online, and seller stated mods had been done, and that he did not know what for. Here is the current status of the scanner...
-Squelch does not seem to work, and speaker has very little noise coming out of it, as if stuck on low volume.
-Powers up ok, and all functions seem to operate properly.
- I have not been able to get it to scan which may be linked to my squelch problem.
- Internal speaker had been removed and external speaker jack removed, with wire hanging out rear of scanner,
where external jack plug was. Hooked a speaker to this wire, but getting very little noise out of it.

Seller did state scanner was at one time, in a police vault. I have read somewhere that these scanners were "modified" for use in patrol cars, for whatever reason. Would really like to get this unit functioning the way it was intended. Especially for the price.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to say, chief. but it sounds like you just bought yourself a moderately-priced paperweight.

What was the username of the seller, or at least part of it? Might be the same seller who sent nasty grams to me when I tried to return it for not as advertised. Ebay handled it though.

Your only hope would be mods.dk.com maybe you can download a print for this scanner.

I just called a friend of mine and he says they never released a schematic for this scanner. he says to find a good one and look to see where everything should be.

Just my thoughts.

schematic for bc350a

I understand you have a modified 350a which was used in police work. here's the history for that modification...certain in-car video/audio systems (from multiple suppliers) use a climate controlled "vault" which is mounted in the trunk and contains both the media capture device (usually a vhs tape and v.c.r.) and a modified bc350a which supplies the audio link. heres how it works: the camera tapes an event, the v.c.r. imprints this onto the vhs tape while a wireless mic pack transmission is captured by the bc350, which has been directly wired into the v.c.r. audio jack, providing the voice imprint in real time onto the already running tape. I believe the reason you are having problems finding the schematics for this scanner is this modification involves proprietary or trademark/copyright issues used by the companies who market this vault to police, transit etc. would be nice to have had the 6 pin wiring harness included with the device as these mods are just remotes used to control the scanner though the v.c.r. and other in-car recording controls. for example the dc power jack on the unit has been bypassed with the power (after mod) being now supplied by the green and orange harness wires, etc. the mods can be undone, but a new operational unit may turn out to be easier...

Thanks for the info. Hope to get my hands on a good, used one that has not been modified, so I can physically see how to repair the first one. From what I have read, the BC350A is a pretty dependable radio.
