Uniden BC680XLT - Open Squelch Fix.

Hi all.
I rummaged through Google about this issue. However could not find any schematics and or posted fixes.

So....

1. Remove all screws on back of the scanner, back will come apart with little force.
2. You are presented with picture 1.
3. Locate Variable Resistor (VR3) as seen in Pic 2, highlighted in yellow.
4. Turn all the way to the left until it stops.
5. Now turn to the right in small increments.
6. Put the back on, without screws.
7. Plug in power and turn on, test squelch.
8. Repeat 5,6,7 until squech is working and no longer constantly open.

I searched the internet and only time Google finds a BC680XLT are in your post above so I though it must had been a typing error.
It has a squelch controller so I assume it is the Auto setting of the squelch that needed this VR3 adjustment, that the auto position disconnects the controllers potentiometer and replaces it with the VR3 adjustment?

Looks like the squelch controller has its on/off switch in series with its potentiometer and when it disconnects the resistance of the potentiometer the DC voltage change thru it makes a diode next to VR3 switch over from external pot to internal VR3 pot.
